Very rare – this guitar is a unique piece built by the master Andres Marin (Valencia) – Augustin Barrios had such an Andres Marin guitar!

The government of Paraguay has used a similar guitar as a model for the production of the 50.000 Guarani banknote on which Barrios and his guitar is shown (see last picture).
It is one of the most beautiful decorated Andres Marin guitar we have seen and surely the best preserved one.

Andrés Marin (active from 1880-1950) was one of the most renowned guitar makers in Valencia. He married the widow of Agustin Almonacid, who had a guitar factory on Calle Barcelona 17 and whose successor he became around 1882. The factory produced guitars, bandurrias, lutes, mandolins and a variety of other instruments.
In 1882 and 1883 Andrés Marin won gold medals for his exceptional guitar building skills and was awarded the title of best guitar maker in the world at the time.

This guitar is a masterpiece that was built by Andres Marin around 1900 in finest handcraft. The top is of fine spruce and the back and sides of rosewood. The scale length is 653 mm and the nut width 52 mm.

The guitar is in well used condition and has a lot of wear from play and use. We love these kinds of guitars because you can see from them how past generations of guitarists loved these guitars and played them a lot. It has been recently restored and is in very good playing condition. It has a straight neck, good frets and a very low and comfortable action. The tuning pegs are fine tuning pegs by Wittner. You can fine tune the guitars easily with them.

This guitar absolutely sounds fantastic. Its tonal richness is definitely on the same level as the best guitars of that time. It has developed a characterful vintage sound. The sweetness of the sound is deeply charming.
This very poetic instrument is truly one of a kind. The clear and charming trebles have a wonderful timbre and the deep dark basses have a very mysterious aura as well as a unique Spanish spontaneity.
The guitar also has a remarkable balance and the tones virtually float in the room while maintaining harmonic richness.

A guitar for those who are looking for the quality of guitars by Vicente Arias, Manuel Ramirez, Santos Hernandez etc. without having to break the bank first.
